Are ladies that wear too much jewelry simply making up for lost youth and beauty?

I strongly feel that the older a woman gets, the more jewelty and embellishments she wears, especially as you go up the income scale. Teens and college kids prob are more into piercings or

ankle bracelets at most. As you get into the 30's and 40's, you

see the rings and earings, embellished by diamonds. At 60+,

you see veritable showcases of jewelry, especially as you go up the income scale, almost literally covered with diamonds from head to toe. The upper class socialite can be seen with a whole

display of tieras, necklaces, earings, large palatine crosses,

bracelets from wrist to elbow over her suede gloves, and brooches

wherever room can be had on the body proper.

Again, my question is, is this just to make up for lost youth?

If so, is this a progressive thing as a woman ages? And why?

How could the glitter of a D-flawless diamond ever make up for the lost charms of youth? Is the sense of aging too much to

bear without the adornment of jewelry? Are ladies that wear too much jewelry simply making up for lost youth and beauty?
I love jewelry and I have been told I accessorize well. I am near 40, but continually shock others when I am carded due to a youthful appearance. As you gain more financial stability you are able to indulge in those things you could not afford in the lean years...and some people just have bad taste, or are making up for other things, besides lost youth, such as culture, status, economic standing. Not to mention it is the best apology a spouse can buyAre ladies that wear too much jewelry simply making up for lost youth and beauty?
Interesting question!!!

I am 3 now, but never wanted to spend the money. Now that I have a ton more money - I do indulge with showy pieces - but don't wear it all at once. Jewelry is sparkly and it makes you feel good to have expensive pieces on - this is why older women wear it - because they can! Report Abuse

oops meant I am 34 now - lol Report Abuse

i just think they could be gypsies
Maybe. It could be that they couldn't afford it when they were younger
No, I don't think so...

What turns you on more, variety or beauty?

If there were two girls in front of you, one you've seen many times before, who is also the hotter one, and the other you're meeting for the first time, who would you be more turned on to? I've heard guys are turned on by variety, but I want to see just how far this goes. If you're more turned on by a girl who is not as hot, but who is new to you, then this shows that variety goes a long way. What turns you on more, variety or beauty?
variety you will eventually get sick of something

even if its Beyonce

.What turns you on more, variety or beauty?
Probably the new girl because it seems like I would have already tried putting the moves on the one I already know or have seen... I always like a change plus i get board with relationships quick so a variety with me goes a long ways, problem is i live in a very small town and there are becoming less and less beauties...
Well I think a good balance of both is always a great thing. If you have to have just one more and more over I keep thinking variety. It depends what kind of person you are. I am a very active person, I cannot really sit still for too long, I get bored easily tho. So variety helps because there is always something new, something different happening and with variety, i believe, comes creativity. (Fun)

depends on the girls, variety is kind of a vauge way to discribe someone.
how about u provide the picture of both girls!

Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

I'm starting to doubt it.....

What do you think? Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
Absolutely, not only on a physical level, but also on a psychological level. Of course we all have different ideas about what is attractive. But as you get older, you begin to learn a different way of seeing.

If you have a partner who is very good-looking, but a mean person , that person will grow ugly in your eyes, when you look at them, you won't see a stunningly handsome guy, you'll just see a rat.

Conversely, if you have a plain looking partner, but they are a beautiful person on the inside, they will grow beautiful in your eyes, when you see them, they will look great.

Whatever is on the inside will begin to show on the outside as you get to know the person well. This is why you eventually learn that good character and a sense of humor are more important than good looks. Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
yes.. but there are obviously other factors that play a role in that, as well, the beholder is the individual who deems something beautiful. I think that there can be beauty found in all things. I truly believe that. I also believe in world peace.. so unfortunately for you, you probably would be more comfortable with someones opinion that is less of an idealist. Sometimes the beauty is in a composition, or in a sries of wrongs, or in rights, or in appearances, or in moments- aren't we all the ';beholders'; anyway? This question that you asked, can really be answered so many different ways.
Absolutely.I doubt that phrase sometimes, but it is very true. Its just like saying 1man's meat is another man's poison(or however it goes =P),i know im not making much sense, but yeah,i think the statement is true
Yes, but it depends totally on the individual and varies widely. There are some things most of us can agree on - for example, who thinks Jessica Alba is ugly? But I believe that for each person, there are others who'll find beauty in him/her.
yes it is,whats beauty to one isnt to another, its prefrence, but regardless we are all different in our own ways, its a fact.simple as that,so no need for doubt..
Lose your doubt please Heather Honey. I've got a picture of you, remember? You are indeed beautiful. And, I get to behold your lovely image anytime I want to :) :) :) :) :) YAY me!!!

%26lt;---he has no idea how to A this Q :( ('cept for honestly)
Yes, everyone has beauty in some way, whether it is inner or outer or both.
all depends on what you're beholding

ha-ha
why doubt it? of course it is. i'm sure there is someone out there who will eventually like you,
Yes. Case in point would be the heaviest man in the world getting married. It was on the news yesterday.
Nope it's in the eye of the beer holder :-)
yes it depends on if your high or drunk all the time
I never understood what that phrase means - any answers care to explain?
i behold this question:D haha

honestly id like to think that but idk sometimes its hard....
yuppp

ive seen it happen.
It so very much is.
yes
no, i dont think it exists x
ive always been told that phrase- what does it mean exactly?

Is there a special meaning where a beauty mark is?

just wonderingIs there a special meaning where a beauty mark is?
Some authorities refer to what you call beauty marks more accurately as birth marks, since they show up at birth and may not always be that beautiful. Most cultures build substantial superstition around birth marks. The commonest belief is that the baby receives ';a mark'; when the pregnant mother is frightened by a thing, or is yearning for someone, or is deeply and emotionally affected by an incident. There is no scientific or biological basis for these beliefs but they persist just the same among millions of people in both primitive and sophisticated civilizations throughout history.

abased on somethingIs there a special meaning where a beauty mark is?
I believe in past lives and have read extensively on the subject Some authors, Brian Weiss has shown in his books where people have ,for example, been wounded in a previous life and have a mark in the same spot, in their present life. So, yes I think they are significant.
A beauty mark is a mole, its just an appealing word for mole...thats it...There is no special meaning for where it is located....

Although some people have gotten moles (tattoos or makeup) Where madonna and marilyn monroe have them, or they are originally there in the same positions as those stars have them...

There are no real meanings..Its just a mole..

How does a person style (clothes, beauty regime, hairstyle, self mutilations) reflect the person they are?

it shows the certain mood that person is showing to people. like whether a person wore all black or pastel yellows and blues, they both reflect how they feel and their personality.

like some people who are posers. on the other habd, you can tell they are posers from what they put on themselves right?

but then again you cant read a book by its cover so personal style only take up about half of who people areHow does a person style (clothes, beauty regime, hairstyle, self mutilations) reflect the person they are?
Hairstyles, clothes, make up and things such as that show off a person's personality. How does a person style (clothes, beauty regime, hairstyle, self mutilations) reflect the person they are?
This is you motto: If you look good, you feel good, you act good. Simple.
If the person always wears very classy and perfect fitting clothes, they are looked at as organized and smart. Now if one is to wear baggy, old clothes, they are seen as careless, irresponsible in some situations, and easy going.
it doesnt always because some people copy other people so it reflects who they are copying my clothes show im versatile ill wear anything i like

Can I bring a purse with beauty products on as a carry-on, with another backpack with clothes too?

I'm going to Florida in March, and i'm only going to be staying a weekend. can i just bring my beauty stuff (i.e. macara, cream foundation, lip gloss, shampoo, etc.)in my purse and my clothes in another bag? I know about the liquid rule, but i just don't want my stuff thrown out. thank youCan I bring a purse with beauty products on as a carry-on, with another backpack with clothes too?
Yes, you can bring on one carry on and one personal item. The carry on can be your backpack and the personal item can be your purse. Now, make sure that your makeup is in a plastic ziplock even if it's not liquid (just to make sure). I always put my mascara, lip gloss and cream foundation in a ziplock and put it in ready reach so I can quickly take it out for them to scan it.

However, the shampoo might be a problem. If it's larger than the prescribed amount allowed on planes, you shouldn't take it. Just buy another bottle in Florida.

Double check with your airline company and airport to ensure that you're good before departure. Have fun!

Do men really go to a beauty shop to get their backs waxed (if they have hair on their backs)?

Or are there any wives out there who wax their husbands backs for them to keep unsightly hair off?Do men really go to a beauty shop to get their backs waxed (if they have hair on their backs)?
Only the people with hair on backs know this, but secret i heard is that they are really Bigfoots, who are shaven to protect their livelyhood and they are on the verge of extinctionDo men really go to a beauty shop to get their backs waxed (if they have hair on their backs)?
some do go to salons. others will have someone else do it for them. but in most cases they just leave it alone.

    :]
yes i go to salon to get my chest and back waxed
Waxing is extremely common among men in 2007. I go to a place within a gym where about 40% of waxees are male - it's no big deal, the therapists are all female and they're totally professional and are used to treating men.

I love my wife completely and trust her but on the other hand she's a highly skilled and experienced journalist and not a trained beauty therapist so I wouldn't let her near me with heated wax (in the same way as I wouldn't let her cut my hair because I prefer a professional hairdresser to do the job).
yes men do go to salons to get waxed I saw this report name Larry Hoff from the W B11 get waxed on TV and he screamed like a baby.
you can buy waxing strips at the store, just find some one who will wax it for you
lol yer some of them do.. but like you said some do get their wives to wax it off... either way its the same progress.. and you go through the same pain..

I need solid sources talking about how television effects society's perception of beauty?

It's for a research paper. I have checked several websites and books, but am having trouble finding a connection between the two things.I need solid sources talking about how television effects society's perception of beauty?
There are few books that actually have the title of your thesis on its front cover. But here are a few books that cover men and women's perceptions in the mass media. Check em out. Just go to the back of the books, look up television. The books might not explicitly say the effects, but make deductions!

    Good luck!

I feel that television effects society s perception in many ways. Teenagers feel that they have to look a certain way as say singing stars or young actresses. there for there self esteem becomes low if they feel they dint perseve themselves as adiquite. I then find they try to dress and some times act like some of the singers they see on televison which in reality they are not thier own charactures . They are trying to become like someone else. Not themselves. I recall when my son was eight years old he would watch the movie the Titanic over and over again trying to dress like him and talk lilke him and i find this very intreging as his personality to this day is some what like him protectiing women which is a positive way of looking at a movie.

If you get highlights at the beauty school do they turn out horrible?

Keep in mind that at a beauty school, the person who will be performing your service will be a student. BUT, there should always be an instructor watching near-by and they are there to help if the student doesn't know what to do. As far as the chemicals, if it is a good school, they should be equipped with all the supplies needed for your service! So if you get highlights at a beauty school, I think they will turn out just fine and you will also be helping a student learn! If you get highlights at the beauty school do they turn out horrible?
Getting highlights always has the potential of turning out horrible and at a beauty school the risk is considerably higher...duhhh!!! Things to consider before allowing a student color your hair: Are you wanting something drastic? Is your hair dark brown and you want blonde highlights? Is your hair over processed and/or damaged? If any of these are true - don't go to the beauty school!!! Don't go there for anything too complicated - If you're asking for a few subtle pieces around the front or some amber tones, golden bits in light brown or dark blonde hair you should be safe and have a nice outcome at the beauty school....

If someone has the title of ';beauty consultant'; shouldn't they be required to wear make-up and wash their hair?

The snotty broad at Walgreen's had ';Beauty Consultant'; on her little name tag. She also had no make-up, a mustache, and GREASY, stringy hair.

Not only should you NOT take beauty tips from that Cretan, you should call the Black Lagoon and tell them that their ';Creature'; is missing .... then kindly tip them off to the Walgreen's location in question.

I never understand such things, being a woman you would think that all of the females of our species would at least CARE to pretty-up with the basics ... but sometimes i remain utterly amazed at lack of hygiene and basic grooming by a good deal of women that i encounter.

    We ALL have our rough days, but GOOD GOD some days i want to say ';Shave it or braid it sister, i'm 2 seconds from taking a Lawn-mower to Yo Face!';

haha. One of my contacts answered your questions and I love them. I think you would be so funny in real life..

I sure as hell wouldn't...but hey, it's Walgreen's...they have a ';different'; standard of beauty.

would you doll yourself up if you worked at Walgreen's?
she was going for the homely look
only if she turns your husband on. :))
    nope!
that's why she's at Walgreens and not a department store
i wouldnt.....but then again maybe she just didnt want to be bothered that day....

';Beauty in art is nothing but ugliness subdued';-Jean Rotand. What do you think this quotation means?

I read it to mean that there is at least a bit of ugliness (e.g. negativity, evil, etc) in everything, but through art, the goodness/beauty (what somone wants to see) of the subject prevails and is exalted. However, it is still important to examine those ';subdued'; characteristics in order to see the truth behind it. Just my thoughts.

    4. Apology at the G-20 Summit of World Leaders: News conference in London, April 2. “I just think in a world that is as complex as it is, that it is very important for us to be able to forge partnerships as opposed to simply dictating solutions.”

    5. Apology for the War on Terror: Speech in Washington, D.C., May 21. “Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. I believe that many of these decisions were motivated by a sincere desire to protect the American people. But I also believe that all too often our government made decisions based on fear rather than foresight, that all too often our government trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions.”

    6. Apology for Guantanamo in France: Speech in Strasbourg, France, April 3. “In dealing with terrorism, we can’t lose sight of our values and who we are. That’s why I closed Guantanamo. That’s why I made very clear that we will not engage in certain interrogation practices. I don’t believe that there is a contradiction between our security and our values. And when you start sacrificing your values, when you lose yourself, then over the long term that will make you less secure.”

    7. Apology for America before the Turkish Parliament: Speech to the Turkish Parliament, Ankara, Turkey, April 6. “The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history. Facing the Washington Monument that I spoke of is a memorial of Abraham Lincoln, the man who freed those who were enslaved even after Washington led our Revolution. Our country still struggles with the legacies of slavery and segregation, the past treatment of Native Americans.”

    8. Apology for U.S. Policy toward the Americas: Editorial “Choosing a Better Future in the Americas,” April 16. “Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities, and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas.”

    9. Apology for the Mistakes of the CIA: Remarks to CIA employees at Langley, Va., April 29. “Don’t be discouraged that we have to acknowledge potentially we’ve made some mistakes.”

    10. Apology for Guantanamo: Speech in Washington, D.C., May 21. “There is also no question that Guantanamo set back the moral authority that is America’s strongest currency in the world.”
No, I don't agree with you. And yes, I think - but you apparantly are the one who doesn't think. Sarah Palin has suffered no demise. She actually has left office at the top of her game. Did you even listen to her entire speech?
    http://www.gallup.com/poll/120857/conser…

Looks like about any conservative candidate could win.

And by 2012 my sister could probably beat Obama.
You are mistaken. She is not leaving politics, she is just leaving the governorship.
I wonder if you have anything better to do then bash people.

    I suppose not :).
You do understand that before the 2008 campaign, Sarah was a highly-rated governor of Alaska, right? Just wondering.

You also know that Palin reenergized Republicans after the disappointing win of McCain, right? Yes, you know. So does every other lib, which is why the bashing continues.

All these months of ethical probes yielded nothing, but wasted tons of taxpayer money. You just cannot stand an honest politician. I understand, it makes Congress look like the bandits they are.

    Now, about Pelosi...

What would a career in the beauty industry be called?

i would like to work with hair, make-up and waredrobe. im trying to find a school for that but i dont really know what to look for.. what would the career be called?.. would it be cosmetology or something else?..What would a career in the beauty industry be called?
A stylist. Schooling would be cosmetology and fashion.

    http://www.fidm.edu/

http://www.beautyschoolsdirectory.com/What would a career in the beauty industry be called?
You could be a cosmotologist or an esthetician. You can take esthetics courses at many colleges.

    Esthetician

An aesthetician (or esthetician) specializes in the study of skin care, including facial treatments, body wraps (relaxing treatments which involve hot linens, plastic sheets, and blankets), salt glows (an exfoliation treatment), waxing as a form of hair removal, and cosmetic make-up services. Some aestheticians work with dermatologists to offer more services, including laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and many types of chemical peels.

An esthetician can be licensed solely for that skill. An esthetician is not neccesarily licensed in cosmetology, but is typically well versed in knowledge of skin care.
Beautician as a generalisation, or if you go for something specific, you're usually called what department you are from, such as make-up, hair, or wardrobe. On TV thats how it works anyway. Someone yells the department, and some poor harassed sod runs over to help. And you would normally specialise in one department rather than three.
cosmetology would be for the hair and make-up the wardorbe would be more design

you should try FIT the fashion institute. Most towns have a beauty school that doesnt cost too much that will get you certified in cosmetology
beautician or cosomotologist for the hair and make up. wardrobe would be fashion design. try to find a school where you can major in one and still take the other one.
For hair and makeup I'd say Stylist or cosmetology and for the wardrobe part I'd say fashion designer.
a beautician if im sure. i think cosmetology is make up and beautician is hair.
    cosmetology

or you could major in design/fashion if you're interested in wardrobe
    it is called a beautician

    not cosmetology.

    :]

    good luck!
    cosmetology sounds right to me.
    pretty sure its cosmetology
    beautician or cosmetology
    beautician

Nature's beauty on the horizon?I wrote a essay about the beauty of nature and dawn. but i am unable to figure out the heading of this paper?

';Mother Earth Unveiled'; - this would be a nice title because nature and the rising dawn are both symbollised by that title

What's the point of kid beauty pageants?

It's real annoying how mothers cake make-up onto their children's innocent faces and put them in bikinis and other apparel usually meant for grown women. I don't understand what the point is.

I think when I have children, I'm going to enter my girl into various pageants and tell her to just go crazy on stage. She won't wear make-up, she won't wear dresses, she'll look like a normal kid. What's the point of kid beauty pageants?
The mother's are fulfilling a dream they once had of being in beauty pageants.

I think it is so stupid........What's the point of kid beauty pageants?
The point is to make sure the kid, especially females, grows to be as shallow as possible. Beauty is everything, that what e learned from Disney movies, yeah and acting nice I guess that too. But how would you go to the next step after watching and hearing all kind of ferry tales, now you need to get your daughter to feel she is everything if she is voted on by a bunch of lame *** judges, you ll see the mother and sometimes the fathers crying and cheering, so the girl learns that she now is worth a thing and she made her parents PROUD. But if she does not get picked than God knows what kind of shame she has brought on to her family, it is a disgrace, her parents wont be able to look any one else in the eyes anymore, thus only Honor Killing is the way to get the families honor back, subaku would work as well I would say.

If girls do not grow up as superficial as possible, who would form sororities, who would be working for fashion, I mean common, how many times did you go to a salon and felt like your hairdresser, especially if it is from a well known salon, is acting like she is better than you.

These kind of parents are the best by far I d say!
Mothers enter their daughters for various reasons. Some wanna make money and others are actually trying to live through their children because they never had opportunites or beauty themselves. Sad, I know. I will never be a stage mother. I have a beautiful daughter and if kids want to do beauty pageants for fun, that's the only reason they should do em.
I think it's a way of making the parents ';look good';. Self pride or something, for displaying your 2 year old on stage with makeup and a skimpy outfit.

I think it's really damaging mentally. The girl grows up really hate herself or others, or something.

I like your idea. Toddlers should grow up normal, not throw away their childhood.
There are two sides to the coin...one is the mother living out dreams through her child, the other is that the child actually wants to do this crap! Sadly, when they win, they become little brats! Not how I would raise my girl, but then I cannot judge others by what I would do.
Exploitation and parents living through their children. It's shameful.
I think its because there moms always wanted to be that and are living it through there kids.

i say let THEM decided when they get old. Hey they could win a scholarship. but let kids be kids.
There is no point in kid pageants
the point is insane mothers who try to live through their kids' lives. its awful
i know....they look so old...it is really really creepy
thats what happens when you have too many barbie dolls

I would like to work as beauty consultant but i have no expereince..?

How could i find a work ?I would like to work as beauty consultant but i have no expereince..?
you would have to either train as a beauty therapist. or alternativly you may be able to get an aprentise position where you can train and work at the same time in doing beauty. unfortunatly you really need to be trained to be able to work in beauty as there are always people that owners can hire. check out this website though if you are going to train as it has cheap beauty stuff and helpful for your exams

www.examtec.comI would like to work as beauty consultant but i have no expereince..?
    None of the others have
luck. i got a job working for lancome with no experience. they trained me, sent me to school, then i quit for a better job!
You would have to do a college course, which you can do days or evenings. Or you might even get an apprentiship in a Beauty place which is worth it in the long run.

    Good luck xxx
You could start by trying to get a job in one of the upscale stores in the make-up departments. You could try to join a direct sales organization like Mary Kay or Arbon.. they will train.. or go take some classes at the community college or beauty school in your area.. If you are especially gifted naturally just ask someone to give you a shot.. tell them you will do a free trial period.
Everything calls for experience and the best way you can get it, is to humble yourself to working for free. Volunteer at your local beauty store in work in the area as an assistant or cleaning the display boxes or unpacking the beauty products or checking the inventory of the beauty products....anything that will keep you close enough to observe first and then eventually help with that kind of job that you seek. There are lots of books and info on the internet. Get the knowlege befor you practice and observe before you do the actual work so when you sart getting the experience it will come naturally and people will observe that. Get those people to give you a reference and within a year or two you will be ready to do your consulting with someone else and really get paid for it.
Go and work on Saturdays to gain experience.

Does the small breast affect the beauty of a woman very much?

Breasts do not equal beauty. I have small breasts and my husband thinks I'm beautiful. Some men like big breasts, but that doesn't mean they make you beautiful, you could have huge breasts and be a beast.Does the small breast affect the beauty of a woman very much?
Only if YOU think it does.

Only YOU can define beauty and how beautiful you are.

If you ask other people to define beauty for you, I guarantee you'll discover answers that qualify you as unattractive, when you're probably a gorgeous girl.Does the small breast affect the beauty of a woman very much?
no its just like candies , all sweet
not really! it might look wierd but if you feel good inside yourself definitely you look inside and out.. that's all that matter! just manage to look good and youre fine.
I have heard some guys say that more than a handful is a waste.
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO鈥?br>

I mean look all that supermodels...........

They have small breasts, but even tough they are famous and beautiful.
Yes it does. It affect how a woman feels about herself. If the women feels like small breast are just the small ( no pun intended ) part of her beauty than she will feel beautiful as anyone else. However if she feels breast are a big part of her beauty, then she will probably get a padded bra, bust enhancing cream or breast augmentation to fixed what she considered unacceptable flaws
No Breasts have nothing to do with beauty.
it can, but not necessarily in a bad way =) small breasts have their good side. they lend a leaner silhouette and allow for certain dresses and swimwear that wouldn't be suitable for bigger chest sizes.

and besides, if you are confident, it doesnt matter. =) your body is a work of art.

And if you want to look different and make a change, than doing a little bit of make up (mascara, blush, eyeshadow, lipstick) would make a BIG difference to your friends. especially because they know that you dont wear make up.

Another think that you could do is dye your hair, or put highlights in it. even the simplest change can make people notice you! :)

You can also cut your hair! Say you have extremely long hair, or even hair that is about 'armpit' length. cutting it to your shoulder or higher, can shape your face more(:

Another thing is curling, straightening, or just trying different hairstyles, makes a difference(:

(vote me as best answer! hahah)
go to websites like oldnavy and american eagle to get ideas on whats popular with makeup and hairstyles. Read magazines like cosmo, glamour, etc. Just look up teen celebrities. Try things like highlights or curly hair, smokey eye make up, neutral colours. Experiment as much as you can with what you have...go crazy but have fun and only do what you think looks good
Well it would help a lot of you posted a picture of yourself or at least described what you look like lol.

BUT dying your hair always makes a person look different and better. Also try getting a hair cut maybe?

    and make-up won't kill yaa.
get a cool haircut, get some good clothes put a littlle bit of makeup on

What you have is a modestly priced pinot that was harvested ripe and highly extracted to make it big an juicy. 1987 was a decent year in Sonoma although not great.

You may have something drinkable now if you're lucky, alhough I would have opened it young since that what the winery designed it for.

It is not a collector's item nor would it be an interesting auction item.

How can society change the way beauty is seen?

This question is very broad. In my opinion the only way for society to change the way beauty is seen is to market the change. How can society change the way beauty is seen?
I'm afraid that ';society'; cant choose to change this... with fashion fads and what not society's view of what beauty is changes with time, culture, religion etc.... for example most modern wester countries see beauty as skinny, big boobs, blonde hair etc... however in other countries like Mauritania it is considered beautiful to be overweight. I dont think that the key is to change the way beauty is seen but to inforce the idea that beauty is in the eye of its beholder and that as long as you're healthy than that is beautiful. How can society change the way beauty is seen?
Depends on what you mean. But the media has all of that covered. The media influences the way many people see things. Convince people to become independant thinkers.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder
yes, 100 years ago pale was seen as beautiful, but now, tan is seen as beautiful.
Well a start would be to stop air brushing the models and to use models that are more representative of the population as a whole instead of the 1% that are able to starve themselves. Showing real images of real people in commercials and getting rid of false images is going to go a long way in changing how beauty is seen.
society itself can change the way it sees beauty, IF it chooses to NOT listen to the media about beauty standards and what you ''should'' look like. although, there are cultural beauty standards that go back hundreds and hundreds of years. but wiuth change of the times comes change of what ''beauty'' is. i think its all BS personally....beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and beauty is about a persons heart, mind, and soul, not what they look like on the outside.
    once the media backs off
i agree with the joe guy i think !

Contact a Mary Kay consultant. If you don't know one, go to the marykay.com web site and use the locator at the top of the page. It is so much fun to try all the products and see what works best for you.How do I get a free beauty makeover?
Well I don't know about a makeover but Sephora does free consultations where they will actually do your makeup. I know the first time I went for mine, I was so excited. I had a facial done and after that a makeup artist came to makeup my face. I felt like I was a celeb or something. But, yeah maybe you could check around your local malls and see if the beauty counters do any free ';mini-makeovers.'; g'luck!

and which country are you from? What is your standard of beauty?
A healthy Christian American who is driven. lol I know but I have to be honest with myself. I don't care about race. What is your standard of beauty?
its strange how some people think im lying when I say im all about personality and how a woman carries herself...to me true beauty has little to do with the outer appearance because some of the most two faced and evil people are physically attractive.

Im not saying I dont like outer beauty because I do, I just never get serious with anyone based on their outer appearance

Bottom line we have to relate and have an understanding of one another
I am from the united states. I am biracial( have black and white- well barely white cause my grandma is Greek and native American) but anyway I'm mostly attractive to mexican guys or african American guys. Even though the guy I like is white LOL I do not really have a standerd for beauty. I like guys with nice personalitys!!:)

P.s people think I'm puerto rican Or Mexican. Mostly peurto rican though. I take it as a compliment :)
I tend to have no standard of beauty. The kind of people I like.. people I like, are the average looking guys with glasses. XD.. I don't know why.. but the BIGGEST beauty to me is personality. Personality makes me fall in love with a guy more than anything else.
As far as body types go:

-wide hips and a small waist

-nice round thighs, no skinny thighs

    -fairly sized boobs

    -big butt

    As far as face:

    -long hair

-a style and color that works for the person, but I'm generally more attracted to brunettes than blondes
male - medium-sized dick, toned body, 5'9 or taller, dark skin, full lips, strong facial structure

female - full lips, hourglass figure or coke-bottle figure, round face, long eyelashes
my standard of beauty.... as long as the person has their own personal style and confidence to pull it off, its all good

start drinkin a lot of water because it helps clear you skin, also get you some eyecream. your a young guy but never too young to start taking care of your skin.Heeelp skin problem help need beauty tips?
The dark circles under your eyes are caused by blood that leaks from your capilaries, kind of like how a bruise works. To help these go away, you need to improve your circulation. A lot of times being more rested helps. That's why people with lots of lack of sleep often have these. So go to bed earlier, and exercise, because that will help the circulation and make them go away.
its basically called ';racoon eyes';, but I'm not sure what the cure is. I would say put some cucumber on your eyes but it certainly doesn't do anything.

Physical beauty never was a politically correct sentiment.
Donald Trump owns the Miss USA pageant. That's why she will *always* be a white female beauty, and every girl will always look like every other girl. Enjoy yourself.

Would you compete in a beauty pageant?

    hey girls !

if somebody offered you the chance to compete in Miss Teen USA, would you go?Would you compete in a beauty pageant?
I'm older now, but I was in Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA when I was 14. I was also 5th runner up in PA State Laurel Queen. Those are the only two I ever tried, for scholarship money. I did win a little, and it was kinda fun.Would you compete in a beauty pageant?
Yes, what some of these girls and a lot of people think is that girls who compete in pageants have fake boobs, big hair, are skinny, and caked with makeup. But this is totally untrue. When I first started competing in pageants when I was 10 this is what I thought that I would turn out like but instead I have so much more self confidence from pageants. When you compete in a pageant you have to do so many scary things. Talking in front of a crowd, putting on a bathing suit and walking on stage, and not to mention wearing 4-5 inch heels. Its not easy and anyone who thinks that those girls are bimbos, you are so wrong. Girls who compete in pageants, I've found, are some of the smartest women out there. And the Miss Teen USA organization is a great pageant and anyone who is in it is very lucky!
I'd have to think about that. There would be a prize money, correct?

I'd use that money to pay for my dream college. Of course, I'd have to win, which is a slim chance for me.

If somebody did offer me the chance, I'd take it. Not just to look good in gowns (Which I do, lol) but to show that even an over weight girl, like me can compete.

I don't want to sound rude, but a lot of the Miss Teen USA competitors are super thin and have a perfect... Everything.

I'm not sure if I'd like to compete with that.

But I do want to prove a point showing that girls of any height, weight or age could do it.

I would take that chance of losing to ultra pretty girls.
Well, it all depends because sometimes you can get pressured into things like fake teeth, and a bunch of makeup. I honestly don't think pressuring girls to put tons and tons of makeup on themselves to make them win a pageant. But I certainly would, if I wasn't pressured and I could make my own decisions. Because I am an independent girl well who likes to make her own decisions

    :)
Of course. I think it'd be really fun. I think pagaents have a really bad rap but some of my relations have been in them and they're nothing like that. Girls aren't really judged on appearance but rather personality, what counts. The one that my cousin was in, that I too want to be had sections for physical fitness, academics, poise/grace, spirit and talent. Every one wins an award and three girls win money for college. The winner of course gets more stuff. Over the summer they get to participate in different parades around our state. It isn't like what they make pagaents to be with cake face makeup and three year olds in bikinis and heels. Its a true down to earth fun competition that you can do with your friends.
no i think beaty pagents just look for the skinnist most beautiful person out there when they kno that in reality there are people who dont always look like that

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
Yeah baby! I have a local title and I it would be a dream come true to be in a national. Win or lose, it would be a fun experience.
No way. Those things are over-rated and silly.

But,it's fun to watch the contestants be nervous, and say silly stuff.

Does ovulation have an effect on women's perception of her own beauty?

It is a scientific fact that women like more masculine type of men during their ovulation period. But my question is, do they see themselves more or less beautiful during those days? And if yes, what might be the scientific explanation for that?Does ovulation have an effect on women's perception of her own beauty?
I believe it does, but whether women are aware of this change in their perception of themselves is a totally different question altogether. During the ovulation period, hormones are triggered and these... sort of encourage... the females to mate because they are fertile and ready to conceive. Hence the increased attraction to males they perceive as healthy and virile, AND also the slight change in self-perception, a better view of themselves so to speak, to make them more confident and thus more attractive.Does ovulation have an effect on women's perception of her own beauty?
i have recently started tracking my ovulation days, an from my experience i feel and look prettier... I notice that I am experiencing hot flashes more often. And I am hornier... I think, lol...
You will look your best during ovulation, because you want to attract men.

    At that time, you will not look for masculine men, you look for any man. Actually, you will say in your own mind ';This guy doesn't look all that bad after all';

Beauty and the Beast was a tv show in the late 80's. I think it aired on CBS. Maybe on Friday nights? It has Linda Hamilton in it. She's the only actor from it that I can remember. It only lasted a few seasons, but I think it actually won a golden globe. This might be what you were talking about.Does anyone remember watching the beauty and the beast where the characters were not animated?

Where do U think is the cheapest way to buy beauty products.?

personally i buy all my products at wally mart! yup the thing is it really doesnt make a difference how much you spend on your make up, its the brushes you use to apply, how you apply and always take it off. You can make any makeup look marvelous! invest in a good apply bush for eye lids foundation, powder, blush etc. make up last longer as it is applied, but the things member to always take it off. some really good makeup doesnt leave you skin blotchy, dry, pasty or broken out but this make up is only 4-8 $ IT WILL! if you continously apply and hardly wash the brushes or your face at night. Maybelline, max factor, cover girl, nutrogena are good affordable products !!

also if you buy your makup at rite aid and it turn out you have used the make up but didnt like it, they will let you exchange it! ;)Where do U think is the cheapest way to buy beauty products.?
    you should programmize yourself.

    1. you should know exactly what making up product you want to buy such as lipstick and etc.

    2. Search from your friends, relatives or expert people that use what you need, you should be sure that you just not attention to price , be careful about quality , too.

    3. then, find beauty shop store that you think they have what you want or search online store.

for example, shoppers drugmart is one of the best place to buy beauty product . you can also find other drug store beacause they usually have nice suitable beauty products

  • What did you think the meaning behind the movie ';American Beauty'; was?

ive always thought it was a dramatization of the american suburban household. what do you think? What did you think the meaning behind the movie ';American Beauty'; was?
    I don't know if there is one simple meaning. If it is, it's encapsulated in the tag-line, ';Look Closer.';

Behind the facade of beauty and normalcy, there may be something damaged and lonely - and behind what seems to be plain, ordinary, or weird may, in fact, be beautiful. What did you think the meaning behind the movie ';American Beauty'; was?
I think that the meaning of the movie is that we see things in the world with so much beauty and importance but we don't see it or acknowledge it. There is more than meets the eye........
American Beauty is also a name of the roses
If you dont have Jesus, youre life is pretty much garbage.

Can anyone give me beauty tips?

I am getting prepared for 8th grade formal, but i need some help.

    1. How do u get rid of greasy roots?

    2. How do u get rid of build up on scalp?

    3. How do u get rid of Acne fast? (formal is on the 15th)

Anything else u would like to give me would be great! Can anyone give me beauty tips?
ok so for the first question.... when u wash ur hair use a clensing shampoo that is also moisturizing like a type of pantine... first pour about a quarter size in ur palm while ur hair is getting wet from shower rub the shampoo in and then with both hands start from bottom of hair to root also work ur way from the underneath to the top layer of ur hair. DONT FORGET THAT WHEN SHAMPOOING HAIR WATER NEEDS TO BE COLD OR LUKE WARM this opends up the pores of your hair to get it clean inside too. and then use a vitiman conditioner once again i recomend pantine. and do same steps as shampoo. MAKE SHURE THAT U ARE GETTING ALL OF CONDITIONER OUT OF HAIR CUZ THIS MAKES HAIR OILY IF U DONT. and while u are conditioning ur hair keep the water on cold or luke warm. but when u rinse put it on alittle bit hotter. this closes the poures so hair does not look damaged. then blowdry or let it dry natural and do watever style u like.

for second question. use a dandruf 2 in 1 before u use ur regular shampoo and conditioner. like selson blue or head and sholders %26lt;%26lt; that one works for me better (head and sholders).

for the last question... im sorry i have never had acne. but i have had friends with it and i can reaccomend a few.... skin id %26lt;%26lt;%26lt; THAT WORKS REALLY GOOD my friend used it and it worked in 2 weeks time

    proactivity i dont really know

    clean and clear

    nutregena%26lt;%26lt;%26lt; THAT WORKS GOOD TO

and i cant think of the last one but im shure one of these will work.

    hope it helped

Many beauty products on the market have harmful chemicals in them; do your favorite beauty products contain any of these things?:

    * Mineral Oil, Paraffin %26amp; Petrolatum – Petroleum products coat the skin like plastic, clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulate and can lead to dermatological issues, like slowing cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging. Suspected cause of cancer %26amp; Disruptive of hormonal activity.

    * PARABENS – Such as methyl- propyl- butyl- %26amp; ethyl- parabens: Widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens. Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities – mimicking estrogen – and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.

    * Phenol carbolic acid – Found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.

    * Propylene glycol – Used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, may inhibit skin cell growth, and is a skin irritant and sensitizer.

    * Acrylamide – Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.

    * Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) – Found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners… and in over 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skin’s moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a “nitrosamine”, a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling “comes from coconut” or “coconut-derived'; - and is found in many popular body washes and toothpastes!

    * Toluene – Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.

    * WAXES – Such as Paraffin, Candelilla Wax, Carnuba Wax: Waxes are widely used in cleansing creams, eye creams, and moisturizers. Waxes clog pores, creating blackheads and whiteheads. They also smother the skin, which over time creates an enlarged pore problem.

    * Lanolin – A yellow, semi-solid, fatty secretion from sheep’s wool is widely used in skin and beauty care products. It can cause an allergic reaction in some people, as well as enlarged pores.

    * Acetone – Used in nail polish and nail polish removers, this colorless, volatile liquid is often used in astringents, fresheners, or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin, while speeding up the aging process.

    * ALCOHOLS – Such as Isopropyl Alcohol, SD Alcohol 40, Ethyl Alcohol: Alcohols dissolve the body’s natural moisturizers and strip the skin of its protection, leaving it vulnerable to infection. Alcohols destroy skin’s pH balance, and since they absorb water, they speed up wrinkling.

    * FD%26amp;C – When this abbreviation precedes the name of a color, it means that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has certified it as safe for use in drugs and cosmetics, but not food. D%26amp;C colors are usually synthetic, coal tar colors. They’re toxic and should be avoided when at all possible.

    * Dioxane – Found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane, easily absorbed through the skin. Dioxane’s carcinogenicity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by “vacuum stripping”. Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as “comes from coconut”.

IF SO, you should throw them away IMMEDIATELY and Tell ALL your friends and family!!! (Extra-virgin olive and/or coconut oils are great alternative moisturizers, and they contain natural sunscreens, until you find something else without these toxins) Hope this helps!!! Good luck!!!!!
    1. Try rubbing a small amount of baby powder in

    2. No idea sorry

    3. Just don't touch it! At all! When your alone put bandaids or something on your acne so your not tempted to poke at it. Also if your really desprate my friend says that clean and clear spot remover thing is really good.
    1. when using shampoo, only shampoo at the top and really rub it in with ur fingers (the water will run the shampoo down to your tips anyways)

    2. use dry shampoo

    3. take a hot washcloth and put it over your face, then right after you do that use the cleanser then put on a moisturizer (even if you have oily skin)... also, exfoliate once a week
