';Beauty in art is nothing but ugliness subdued';-Jean Rotand. What do you think this quotation means?
I read it to mean that there is at least a bit of ugliness (e.g. negativity, evil, etc) in everything, but through art, the goodness/beauty (what somone wants to see) of the subject prevails and is exalted. However, it is still important to examine those ';subdued'; characteristics in order to see the truth behind it. Just my thoughts.wrinkles
