The media shoud be blamed for peoples obsession over their appearances and physical beauty?

should the media be blamed for peoples obsession over their appearances and physical beauty? The media shoud be blamed for peoples obsession over their appearances and physical beauty?
Nope.

Themselves!

Parents

Peers

Society

but not the media for pointing it out.The media shoud be blamed for peoples obsession over their appearances and physical beauty?
I don't think we should totally blame the media for something that is already hard-wired into our brains or DNA.

True beauty in humans and nature evolution is perceived in the brain as symmetry vs. asymmetrical features/characteristics. Beauty is just a mathematical phenomenon! Hollywood and the Media understands the impact of it on the viewing public---It brings in the big bucks, so they keep using what works best. (if you don't have it, pay a plastic surgeon to get it)

The more symmetry on the face or body, the more beautiful it is to the people who view it.
Yes.
I remember a few years back a journalist friend commenting about a new TV anchor person being good enough to look at every night on the news. I had never really noticed that there ain't very many ugly people doing that job!..:) So my question is why?
No. It is not the medias fault for peoples obsession with beauty, they just play on that obsession.

In psychology I was watching a video on this very topic, and it said that babies know what beauty is even before the media has a chance to taint its mind. It was shown two pictures of a beautiful and a not-so-beautiful person. It looked longer at the beautiful person.

Now, I will admit that magazines showing models and such who are perfect looking do have a negative effect on people, but its rediculous to want to look like that model, because that picture is airbrushed and such to look better. Not even the model looks like that.
The Mirror should.

: )
I don't think the media is to blame. It's some people's fascination with pop culture. The media delivers it, but doesn't create it.
